Five new papers have been published in the last months. Among them, a numerical work exploring the role of a nanostructure in laser-plasma interaction in the near-critical regime has been published in the European Physical Journal D. Check out the other articles here!
Francesco Mirani has started his 3-year PhD program in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology since the 1st of November, 2017. He will further develop the research activities started with his Master’s thesis on non-destructive materials analysis with laser-driven ion beams.
Alessandro Tentori has joined our team to work on his Master’s thesis in Nuclear Engineering on laser-driven secondary neutron sources.
This weekend – 29th and 30th September – find out more about our research at the Meet Me Tonight 2017 edition!
You will find a stand called Il sole in una scatola: scopriamo la fisica dei plasmi where you will have the chance to discover plasmas with simple and interactive experiments (29/09 and 30/09, Giardini Indro Montanelli, Milan). The stand is organized by Politecnico di Milano and Istituto di Fisica del Plasma IFP-CNR, also in collaboration with some researchers of the ENSURE team. Learn more on our stand here and here.
Matteo Passoni will briefly present the ENSURE project at the Champions League: una campione della ricerca ogni 4 minuti event (29/09 at 19:00, Museo Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci, Milan). Link
Alessandro Maffini will take part to a roundtable about his work with other researchers at the Parla con me event (30/09 at 16:00, Giardini Indro Montanelli, Milan). Link
Matteo Passoni – principal investigator of the ENSURE project – has recently received an ERC Proof of Concept Grant for the INTER – Innovative Neutron source for non destructive TEsting and tReatments – project!
The European Research Council celebrates its 10th anniversary and its achievements with the ERC Week that will run from the 13 to the 19 March across Europe. During this week, special events have been organized also at Politecnico di Milano, Host Institution of ENSURE and other ERC projects. On March 13, 14 and 15 all principal investigators of ERC projects hosted at Politecnico di Milano will have the opportunity to present their work.
Matteo Passoni, leader of the ENSURE project, will talk on March 15 at 4 pm (Sala Consiglio, Department of Energy, Via Lambruschini 4, Building BL25, Campus Bovisa) .
If you are interested you can find the complete program of the three days here [pdf]. Registration is required to participants, one for each day.
Two papers supported by the ENSURE project were among the articles that have generated a particular interest in the community and with the referees during 2016 and have therefore been included in the annual Highlights collection of their respective journal. You can read and download them for free at the following links.
If you are interested in more Highlights of 2016 by the two journals, you can the check out the following links.
Two new publications supported by the ENSURE project.
The new paper “In-situ cleaning of diagnostic First Mirrors: an experimental comparison between plasma and laser cleaning in ITER-relevant conditions” by Alessandro Maffini has been accepted for publication in Nuclear Fusion [pdf download].
The new article “Relativistic surface-plasmon enhanced harmonic generation from gratings” by Luca Fedeli has been published! You can find it here https://arxiv.org/abs/1611.06706 or here [pdf download].
The 8th Course “Atoms and Plasmas in Super-Intense Laser fields” will be held in Erice, Sicily, Italy on July 7-17, 2017.
